How does daily vs monthly credit allocation work?

When you subscribe to a Lobstr.io plan, you get a set number of credits every month.

You can choose how to use these credits: spread them evenly each day or use them whenever you want during the month.

How daily vs monthly credits work on Lobstr.io?

Different users have different needs:

• Some need to scrape data every day and want to avoid using up all their credits at once.
• Others want to scrape large datasets and prefer to have all their credits available upfront.

That’s why Lobstr.io gives you two credit allocation modes:

1. Daily allocation
2. Monthly allocation

Daily Allocation

With Daily Allocation, your monthly credits are divided by the remaining days in your billing cycle.

You’ll have a set amount of credits to use each day. This makes it easy to stick to a steady daily scraping routine and avoid running out early. It’s ideal if you want consistent scraping every day with a clear daily limit.

Monthly Allocation

With Monthly Allocation, you get all your credits for the month upfront.

You can use them however and whenever you want within the billing cycle. This is perfect if you need flexibility for big scraping jobs that require lots of credits at once.

How to switch between daily and monthly credits?

You can change your allocation mode anytime:

1. Go to Settings from the left sidebar in your Lobstr.io dashboard.
2. Click Usage settings.
3. Under Credit allocation mode, choose Daily or Monthly.

What if your Squid needs more credits than your daily quota?

If your scraping job needs more credits than you have for the day, you can setup a temporary pause to resume the scraping next day.

In your Squid settings, go to When to end run and turn on End run once all tasks consumed.

Now once you hit your daily limit, the run will automatically pause.

The next day, when your daily credits refresh, the run will pick up right where it left off.

This way, you can complete larger jobs over multiple days without going over your daily quota.
